The Daetz-Centrum, situated in the Schlosspalais of Lichtenstein/Sa, was home to a collection of sculptures from more than 30 countries between 2001 and 2022. This international competence center for wood carving art was named after its founders, Marlene and Peter Daetz, who established the Daetz Foundation in 1998. The collection showcased the diverse art and craft traditions of the world through the medium of wood.
Following the relocation of the international wood art collection, the building complex has been repurposed as a municipal cultural, exhibition, and conference center, now known as Kultur.Palais.Lichtenstein. This transition has allowed the venue to continue serving as a hub for cultural activities and events.
Although the permanent exhibition at the Daetz-Centrum was closed, visitors can still explore it through virtual 3D tours available on the Daetz Foundation's website. This digital experience allows tourists to appreciate the diverse collection of wood sculptures from the comfort of their own homes.
