Danmarks Fotomuseum is a Danish photography museum situated in the city of Herning. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the development of the camera from 1839 to the present day. The museum also houses a photographic studio from around the year 1900.
The museum was established in 1983, following the efforts of Sigfred Løvstad, a photo dealer from Herning. Løvstad began collecting photography equipment and related historical artifacts in 1959, and it was this collection that formed the basis of the museum.
In 1984, the National Museum of Denmark deposited the majority of their photo historical collection in Herning. This significant contribution greatly enriched the museum's collection, providing a comprehensive overview of the history of photography.
