The DeQuincy Railroad Museum is housed in the historic Kansas City Southern Depot, located at 400 Lake Charles Avenue, in DeQuincy, Louisiana. This location is not only a museum but also a significant piece of history, as it was a key station in the Kansas City Southern Railroad line that was completed in 1897. The depot itself was built in 1923, featuring Mission Revival architecture, and is one of only three such urban railroad stations still existing in Louisiana.

The DeQuincy depot is one of three urban railroad stations still in existence in Louisiana. The other two are the Central Railroad Station in Shreveport and the Texas and Pacific Railroad Depot in Bunkie. All three of these stations, including the DeQuincy depot, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, marking their significance in the history of rail transportation in the United States.
Museum's Collection
The DeQuincy Railroad Museum was established in 1974 in the historic train station. The museum houses a collection of railroad-related artifacts from the Kansas City Southern Railroad, Missouri Pacific, and the Union Pacific Railroads. These artifacts provide a glimpse into the rich history of rail transportation in the region and the role these railroads played in shaping the community of DeQuincy.
