The Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park is situated at the final stretch of the Dilek Mountain extending into the Aegean Sea, within the boundaries of Aydın province. The park spans a total area of 27,675 hectares. Of this total area, 10,985 hectares were declared a National Park in 1966, while the remaining 16,690 hectares were declared a National Park in 1994.
The Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park is home to a rich variety of flora, with 804 plant species identified within its boundaries. Among these, 6 species are unique to this location, and 18 are found only in Turkey. The park's exceptional biological diversity has led to its recognition as a 'Flora Biogenetic Reserve Area' by the Council of Europe.
The Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park is not only a natural wonder, but also a historical and cultural treasure. It encompasses several historical and cultural sites, including the Panionion, which was the sacred gathering center of the Ionian city in the 9th century BC, the ancient city of Thebai, the Ayayorgi Monastery, the historical Doğanbey Village (Domatia), Karine, the Hagios Antonios Monastery, and the Zeus Cave.
