The İzmit Garı station has a rich history dating back to the Ottoman Empire. It was constructed for the Ottoman Anatolian Railways by the empire's Ministry of Public Works and officially opened its doors to the public on January 1, 1873. The İzmit Garı station expanded its services in 2014 with the opening of the Eskişehir - Pendik stage of the Ankara - Istanbul high-speed railway. Since then, the station has also been serving High-Speed Trains, providing faster and more efficient travel options for passengers.
