Falsters Minder, the city museum of Nykøbing on the Danish island of Falster, is located in a historic 17th century half-timbered building known as Czarens Hus (the Czar's House). This building is one of the oldest in Nykøbing, dating back to the 1690s, and has a rich history that includes serving as a supplies store, guest house, and inn. Today, it continues to operate as a restaurant, offering an authentic dining experience in a setting adorned with chandeliers, green walls, and golden trimmings.
The Museum's Collection
The collection at Falsters Minder provides a comprehensive overview of the history of Nykøbing, spanning from its earliest beginnings some 14,000 years ago to the present day. The museum places a particular emphasis on artefacts from the 19th and 20th centuries, offering visitors a chance to delve into the city's past and gain a deeper understanding of its evolution over time. The collection includes a variety of items, from toys and china to glass and a Viking torc.
