The Folk Life Museum in Graz is situated in the former Capuchin monastery at Paulustor. The museum uses contemporary societal issues and cultural phenomena as the basis for its exhibitions, educational programs, and events. This approach makes the museum a dynamic and relevant place for visitors who are interested in understanding the current cultural and societal context of the region.
The Folk Life Museum underwent a renovation in 2020-2021 and was reopened as part of the Styria Show 2021. The museum's event hall, which can accommodate around 150 people, is now open to the public again. This provides an opportunity for visitors to attend various events and programs held at the museum.
On April 9, 2021, the Folk Life Museum opened a new semi-permanent exhibition titled 'wie es ist'. This exhibition explores the different life worlds and perspectives of people in times of change and social transformation. It provides a multi-layered and multi-voiced perspective on the current state of society, making it a thought-provoking experience for visitors.
