Source

The Folldal Mines Foundation, established by the Folldal municipality in 1988, is tasked with preserving the facilities, buildings, and equipment from the mining operation. This preservation effort has resulted in about 70 buildings associated with the old mining environment being maintained. These buildings provide a glimpse into the past and the mining operations that once took place here.

Folldal Mines Reviews

Folldal Mines has 1 rating.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

Folldal Mines offers visitors a glimpse into Norway's mining history. The museum, set in the former mining town of Folldal, provides an authentic experience of the area's industrial past. Visitors can explore the old mine buildings, machinery, and equipment, which have been well-preserved. The guided tours are informative, giving insights into the harsh working conditions of the miners and the impact of mining on the local community. The museum also features exhibits on geology and the mining process. While the site is rich in history, some visitors note that the facilities are basic and the experience may not be suitable for those with mobility issues due to uneven terrain. The remote location adds to its charm but can make it less accessible for some travelers. Overall, Folldal Mines offers an educational and atmospheric visit for those interested in industrial heritage and Norwegian history.
