General Adam Stephen House and its collection

General Adam Stephen House
Source

The Adam Stephen House, located in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia, is a historic home that dates back to the late 18th century. Constructed between 1772 and 1789, the house offers a glimpse into the architectural style and living conditions of that era.

Natural Cave at Adam Stephen House

An interesting feature of the Adam Stephen House is the natural cave over which it was built. Stone steps lead down from the basement to this cave. Since 2002, a local caver's organization has been working to excavate the cave, which had been filled with earth over time. Visitors can explore this excavation during open house days.

The Triple Brick House

In addition to the main house, the site also features the Triple Brick House. This two-story brick building was constructed around 1875 into the embankment next to the nearby railroad tracks. While it was primarily used for residential purposes, it may also have served as a kitchen for dining cars on the B&O railroad line.
