Geothermal Exhibition - Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant and its collection

Geothermal Exhibition - Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant
Source

The Geothermal Exhibition is located inside of Iceland's largest geothermal plant, the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant. Situated 25 km from Reykjavík, the exhibition is the perfect addition to a day trip from the city and is along the route of the Golden Circle, Volcanic Way, and South Coast. The plant produces electricity for Iceland's national grid and hot water for the capital region. Visitors can see into the turbine halls and the working area. They can also learn about the plant's production and distribution, Iceland's renewable energy sector, and subjects like Icelandic geology, culture, and history. Specialized exhibits focus on the exciting innovative projects happening in and around the power plant, like Carbfix - where CO₂ is turned into stone. Our team of Science Communicators are highly experienced and are on hand to answer any questions you may have throughout your visit. The visit is a self-guided audio tour, and it is recommended to bring your smartphone and headphones.
