Exhibits at the Museum of Gold

The Museum of Gold showcases a variety of pre-Columbian gold and other metal alloys like Tumbaga. It houses the world's largest collection of gold artifacts, displayed in the exhibition rooms on the second and third floors. These artifacts provide a glimpse into the life and thought of the indigenous cultures that inhabited present-day Colombia before the Spanish conquest.

The Muisca Golden Raft

One of the notable exhibits in the Museum of Gold is the famous Muisca golden raft discovered in Pasca in 1969. This artifact represents the ceremony of the new zipa (ruler) of Muyquytá and is the basis for the El Dorado myth. It depicts the chieftain standing at the center of a raft, surrounded by principal chieftains, all adorned with gold and feathers.
