The Greenville Zoo, located in Greenville, South Carolina, is a small but well-maintained zoo that offers visitors a chance to see a variety of animals in a compact setting. The zoo features a diverse collection of animals, including big cats, primates, reptiles, and birds. Many visitors appreciate the zoo's manageable size, which allows for a comfortable visit in just a few hours.

Positive aspects frequently mentioned in reviews include the zoo's cleanliness, the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the well-designed habitats for the animals. The zoo's efforts in conservation and education are also often praised, with many visitors enjoying the informative signs and occasional keeper talks.

However, some visitors note that the zoo's small size means there's a limited number of animals compared to larger zoos. Additionally, some exhibits may occasionally be closed for maintenance or animal welfare reasons, which can disappoint some guests.

The zoo's affordability is generally seen as a plus, with reasonable admission prices and free parking. Many families appreciate the playground area and the small train ride, which add to the overall experience for children.

While the Greenville Zoo may not rival larger, more extensive zoos in major cities, it provides a pleasant and educational experience for visitors, especially families with young children. Its compact nature and focus on animal welfare make it a worthwhile destination for those interested in wildlife and conservation.

We visit the Greenville Zoo once-a-year when granddaughters visit from out of state. So, imagine our considerable disappointment when we visited today -- and a large number of the exhibitions were without animals and/or birds -- as a result of "construction." I don't manage zoos, but I would imagine there is a simple, effective way to warn potential visitors that NOW may not be the time to get your money's worth in a visit to this zoo. The phrase "bait and switch" occurs to me. After all, we paid the usual sum for 4 of us to visit the zoo -- only to depart (at the end) with a mere fraction of the experience we were led to expect (a result of omitting to advise us of the fraction of the exhibits not available today). Suggestion: At the entrance of the zoo, management might place a large, prominent billboard-sized map of the zoo -- clearly noting those zoo exhibitions that are out of commission for purposes of construction (or whatever reason). Based on today's experience, we'll be slower to return to this small zoo. While this zoo appears clean and well maintained, its management could use a tutorial in customer-centric administration.
