The Hannibal Square Heritage Center in Winter Park, Florida, offers visitors an insightful look into the history and culture of the local African American community. This small museum houses a collection of photographs, documents, and artifacts that tell the story of Winter Park's west side neighborhood.

Visitors often appreciate the center's commitment to preserving and sharing the often-overlooked history of the area. The exhibits are well-curated and provide a comprehensive overview of the community's development, challenges, and achievements. Many reviewers mention the knowledgeable and passionate staff who enhance the experience with their insights and stories.

While the museum is compact, it makes effective use of its space. Some visitors note that it can be explored thoroughly in about an hour, which may leave those expecting a larger facility slightly disappointed. However, most agree that the quality of the content more than makes up for its size.

The Heritage Center also hosts temporary exhibitions and community events, which add variety and keep the experience fresh for repeat visitors. Some reviewers mention enjoying the small gift shop that offers locally made items and books related to African American history.

A few visitors have noted that parking can be a bit challenging, as the center is located in a busy area of Winter Park. However, this location also means it's conveniently situated near other attractions and restaurants.

Overall, the Hannibal Square Heritage Center provides an educational and thought-provoking experience, offering valuable insights into an important aspect of local history that is often underrepresented in mainstream narratives.

    Thank you to Jasmine Harris!

Last August, my husband and I were spending the last day of our four-day weekend getaway in Orlando. We didn't want to stay at the hotel doing nothing, so I searched online for fun things to do nearby. That's when I came across the Hannibal Heritage Square.

When we arrived and made our way upstairs, we were introduced to Jasmine Harris, who generously took the time to give us a free walking tour. She shared so many fascinating insights and made the experience both educational and enjoyable. I wasn't surprised when she mentioned that she studied African history at UCFโ€”her knowledge and passion truly showed throughout the tour.

I learned so much from her, and it was clear that she genuinely loves what she does. This role suits her perfectly. It's always refreshing to meet someone who has such in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm for their work.

Thank you again, Jasmine, for your time, kindness, and for making our visit such a memorable experience. I highly recommend taking a tour with her if you have the opportunity! Mr. & Mrs. Justilien
