Hawthorn Hill, located in Oakwood, Ohio, is a historic house that served as the home of Orville Wright, his father Milton, and sister Katharine after 1914. The Wright brothers, Wilbur and Orville, had planned for it to be their joint residence, but unfortunately, Wilbur passed away in 1912, two years before the house was completed.

Hawthorn Hill's Recognition as a Historic Landmark

Hawthorn Hill has been recognized for its historical significance. In 1991, the U.S. Secretary of the Interior designated it a National Historic Landmark. Furthermore, in January 2008, it was added to the U.S. World Heritage Tentative List as part of the Dayton Aviation Sites listing. It is also a component of the National Aviation Heritage Area.
