The Heimatmuseum Wilsdruff, which was once known as the Heimatsammlung Wilsdruff, was established by Artur Kühne and Alfred Ranft. This local and natural history collection was opened to the public in 1919. The museum has been housed in the ground floor of the current Oberschule am Gezinge in Wilsdruff since its inception.
The main exhibition focuses of the Heimatmuseum Wilsdruff are geology, prehistory, urban constitution and administration, manorialism, the Battle of Kesselsdorf, agriculture, urban crafts, associations, bourgeois living, post and traffic, industrialization/industry, and World War I. These themes provide a comprehensive overview of the history and culture of the region.
The Heimatmuseum Wilsdruff owns numerous works by the Wilsdruff painter Felix Funk. A special exhibition was dedicated to his life's work on the occasion of his 100th birthday. This collection provides a unique insight into the artistic heritage of the region.
