Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and its collection

Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery

The Henri-Chapelle American cemetery and memorial is the final resting place for 7992 service men , most of whom lost their lives during the advance of the US armed forces into Germany. The memorial is composed of a long colonnade where the names of 450 of the missing are inscribed. On one end, a simple but beautiful chapel invites for recollection. On the other end is a visitor center with two large military maps with inscriptions recalling the achievements of the American forces. Across the highway, an overlook affords an excellent view of the rolling Belgian countryside.
