    On a wet February Sunday,I spent several enjoyable hours at the Hirshhorn Collection appreciating quality 20th Paintings produced by American,European,and Haitian Artists. Among the European Paintings that I especially liked were;Pablo Picasso's"Woman With Hat","Portrait of Doris Maar",Gabrielle Munter's"Mountains in Twilight"(splendid exemplar of Blaue Reiter School Painting),Oskar Kokoshka's"Portrait of Mrs. Karples"(Austrian Expressionism),George Grosz'"Cafe",Ferdnand Leger's"Nude In Red Background",and Joao Miro's"Woman and Little Girl In Front of Sun". American favorites that day were;Edward Hopper's"11 AM",Georgia O'Keefe's "Black Hills With Cedar",Oscar Bluemner's"Morning Light",Ben Shahn's"Brothers",and Julian Schnabel's"Portrait of Andy Warhol. I also was captivated by the following Haitian Paintings;Hector Hypolite's"Young Woman"(quality Haitian Primitive Painting),and Rigaud Benoit's"Nude Among Flowers".All of the paintings that I mentioned are from the Hirshhorn's permanent collection. I saw a very innovative room produced by Laurie Anderson featuring Laurie Anderson's mixed media creations and Philosophical Graffiti.
