The Hjortdal Dyrefarm was home to a variety of species, including different types of goats and sheep such as mohair goats and dwarf goats. Other animals that could be found on the farm included rabbits, guinea pigs, squirrels, pigs, and budgerigars. The farm also housed several unique animals like polar foxes, coatis, llamas, and marmosets.
In 2014, Hjortdal Dyrefarm introduced overnight stays among the animals. This was done with the aim of allowing visitors to learn about the animals' night and morning habits. Three shelters were built close to the goats, sheep, and pigs, which are often active from early morning to late evening.
The animal park at Hjortdal Dyrefarm was committed to expanding as much as possible every year. In 2017, two polar foxes were added to the farm, and they had three cubs the following year. In 2018, the new additions to the farm were two marmosets.
