The Ichoalay Regional Historical Museum, situated in the Argentine city of Resistencia, holds the distinction of being the oldest museum in the Chaco province. It was established on October 12, 1949, and has since been a significant cultural landmark in the region.
After more than two years of closure and extensive renovations, the museum reopened its doors on August 30, 2013. The reopening marked the inauguration of a completely refurbished permanent room, equipped with a new script, furniture, and lighting, all designed to enhance the visitor experience.
The museum's collection offers a comprehensive insight into the region's history. It includes indigenous crafts and utensils from various ethnic groups, uniforms and weapons from the military conquest of the territory, personal belongings of the first immigrants to Resistencia, old photographs, and writings. These artifacts collectively provide a rich understanding of the region's past.
