The museum is nestled near Ippeki Lake on the Izu Peninsula, a location that adds to its charm. Its proximity to the lake and the scenic beauty of the peninsula make it a popular destination for both art enthusiasts and tourists seeking a blend of culture and nature.
The museum's collection comprises around 1400 works that explore the theme of 'humanity'. It includes masterpieces by international artists such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Pierre Bonnard, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Joan Miró, Henri Matisse, Moise Kisling, Marc Chagall, Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning, and Salvador Dalí, as well as works by Japanese artists.
The exhibits at the museum are regularly rotated, ensuring that visitors always have something new to see. At any given time, about 130 to 200 pieces from the permanent collection are on display. In addition, the museum hosts special exhibitions four times a year, providing an opportunity to view rare and unique pieces.
