The Isla Negra House, located in the commune of El Quisco, province of San Antonio, Valparaíso Region, is one of the three residences of the renowned Chilean writer and poet, Pablo Neruda. It is situated approximately 113 kilometers from Santiago. This house holds a significant place in Neruda's life and is now a popular tourist destination.
Today, the Isla Negra House serves as a museum honoring the life and works of the Chilean Nobel laureate, Pablo Neruda. The museum also serves as the final resting place for both Neruda and his wife, Matilde Urrutia, adding to its historical and emotional significance.
The Isla Negra House is home to the most important collections that Pablo Neruda treasured during his lifetime. These collections, most of which are related to the sea, include figureheads, maps, replicas of sailboats, ships in bottles, seashells, and whale teeth. Visitors can also view other collections that include pipes, old shoes, masks, and oddly shaped bottles.
