The Iwaki City Coal & Fossil Museum, affectionately known as Horuru, is a significant cultural institution that was established in 1984. Located in the city of Iwaki, within the Fukushima Prefecture of Japan, the museum offers a unique insight into the region's rich geological and paleontological history.
The museum's collection and exhibits are primarily focused on local fossil discoveries and the Jōban coalfield, which was once the largest coalfield on Honshū. One of the highlights of the museum is the plesiosaur Futabasaurus suzukii, a marine reptile from the Late Cretaceous period that was discovered in the area.
