The Karatay Madrasa is a historical structure from the Seljuk period, located in the Karatay district, Ferhuniye Neighborhood, Adliye Boulevard in Konya. It was constructed during the reign of II. İzzeddin Keykavus, between the years 1250-1251. This historical site offers a glimpse into the architectural style and educational practices of the Seljuk era.

Karatay Madrasa as a Museum

The Karatay Madrasa was opened to the public as a 'Tile Works Museum' in 1955. The museum exhibits works from the Seljuk and Ottoman periods. Visitors can view the tiles of Kubadabad Palace, plaster ornaments, tile plates, lamps and unglazed ceramics, which are displayed in the cell where the tomb of Celaleddin Karatay is located and in the student cells in the south.

Visiting Hours of Karatay Madrasa Museum

The Karatay Madrasa Museum is open to visitors every day except Monday, between the hours of 08.30-12.30 and 13.30-17.30. This allows ample time for tourists to explore the historical and cultural richness of the site.
