The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, once located in Jacksonville, Florida, is now permanently closed. This museum was one of ten Karpeles Manuscript Library Museums in the United States, all of which are housed in repurposed old buildings. The Jacksonville museum was situated in the former First Church of Christ, Scientist building in Jacksonville's Springfield neighborhood, a Classical Revival structure constructed in 1921.
While the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Jacksonville is no longer open, there are other locations across the United States where tourists can visit. These include Buffalo, NY; Duluth, MN; Santa Barbara, CA; Tacoma, WA; Alvin, TX; Rock Island, IL; Gloversville, NY; Lake Mary, FL; Pittsburgh, PA; and St. Augustine, FL. Each of these museums houses manuscripts and documents from the private collection of David and Marsha Karpeles, the world's largest privately owned collection.
