Loosdorf Castle, situated in the Lower Austrian wine quarter in the municipality of Fallbach, is a historical site with a rich past. The castle was first mentioned in historical documents in 1416, under the name Feste Lostorff. This makes it a place of interest for those who appreciate history and architecture.
Despite being heavily damaged in 1945, Loosdorf Castle was restored and opened as a museum in 1959. It now houses the largest private collection of tin figures in Austria. This unique collection is a highlight for visitors, offering a glimpse into the art and culture of the past.
The Piatti family, who owned the castle, established a large porcelain collection with pieces from East Asia and European manufacturers. Unfortunately, in 1945, the castle was looted and most of the porcelain was smashed. The remnants of this collection are now displayed in a shard room, providing a poignant reminder of the castle's turbulent past.
