The Ludwig Forum for International Art is a museum located in Aachen, Germany. It is known for its modern art collection, which is based on the Ludwig Collection. This collection was assembled by the Aachen collector couple, Irene and Peter Ludwig. The museum is supported by the Peter and Irene Ludwig Foundation.
The Museum's Location
In 1991, the Ludwig Forum for International Art moved into the premises of the former Emil Brauer umbrella factory. This factory was built in 1928 in the international style and ceased operations in 1988. Since the move, the museum has been known as the Ludwig Forum for International Art.
The Collection at the Ludwig Forum
The Ludwig Forum's collection is extensive, comprising more than 3,000 works. These works are primarily from the collection of Peter and Irene Ludwig and span all genres of art from many different countries.
Focus of the Ludwig Collection
The Ludwig Collection, which forms the basis of the Ludwig Forum's collection, is particularly renowned for its pop art collections. It has a strong focus on American art from the 1960s onwards.
