Lupa Zoo, located in Ludlow, Massachusetts, is a privately owned 18-acre zoo. The zoo was established by Henry and Joan Lupa, who moved to the United States from Poland in the 1960s. The Lupas initially purchased a farm in Ludlow and began housing a small collection of animals, which eventually led to the creation of the zoo.
The Lupa Zoo officially opened its doors to the public in 1996. It was later granted a license by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 2002, further legitimizing its operations.
Visitors to Lupa Zoo can expect to see a wide variety of animals. Exhibits include Indian peafowl, fennec fox, coati, pot-bellied pig, Aldabra giant tortoise, and many more. From goats and pygmy goats to oryx, muntjac, collared peccary, and wallabies, the zoo offers a diverse range of species. Other animals on display include prairie dogs, binturongs, servals, bobcats, otters, bats, alpacas, zedonks, elks, American bison, donkeys, tapirs, Bactrian camels, nilgais, zebras, Himalayan black bears, common ostriches, emus, cows, porcupines, deer, macaws, and foxes.
