MACTE - Museum of Contemporary Art in Termoli

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Termoli, also known as MACTE, is a contemporary art museum situated in the city of Termoli, within the province of Campobasso. It is a significant cultural institution that showcases a wide range of contemporary art pieces.

Inauguration and Initial Exhibition of MACTE

MACTE opened its doors to the public on April 28, 2019, with the aim of showcasing the works of the Termoli Prize. The inaugural exhibition, titled 'Art is easy', featured works from the late 1950s to the 1980s, all part of the Termoli Prize collection.

Permanent Collection of MACTE

The permanent collection of MACTE is primarily composed of works acquired through the Termoli Prize. It boasts nearly 500 works that span various art movements, from post-informal to abstractionism, from Nieuwe figuratie to kinetic art, and programmed art. This collection provides a comprehensive overview of the trends and evolutions in contemporary art from the post-war period to the present day.
