Source

The Marine Museum of Manitoba, located in Selkirk, was founded in 1972 with the aim of collecting ships, artifacts, and objects related to navigation. The museum's mission is to narrate the history of the development and use of transport on Lake Winnipeg and the Red River. This provides a unique opportunity for visitors to delve into the maritime history of the region.

The Steamboat Keenora at the Marine Museum of Manitoba

Among the collection of ships at the Marine Museum of Manitoba, the steamboat Keenora holds a special place as it was the first vessel acquired by the museum. The MS Keenora, which was abandoned in the Selkirk marsh in 1966, was purchased by a group of twenty Selkirk businessmen from the Marine Transport Navigation Company in 1972. This historical ship adds a unique charm to the museum's collection.
