The Meraker smelting plant, later known as Elkem Meraker, was a significant industrial site located in Kopperå, in the Meråker municipality of Trøndelag. Founded in 1898 by industrialist Ole Haugan, the plant was initially named Meraker Brug og Carbidfabrik and specialized in the production of carbide.
The final products from the Meraker smelting plant were primarily transported by the Meråkerbanen to the port at Muruvik, using the sidings from Kopperå station. At the time of its closure, Elkem Meraker employed 55 people. While some of the buildings have been partially demolished, several large structures associated with the plant, such as the Kopperå I power station, which operated from 1915 to 1994, still stand today.
