The Mirabilia Urbis is a municipal museum located in the city of Mazara del Vallo. It is housed in the deconsecrated church of San Bartolomeo, which adds a unique historical and architectural charm to the museum. Visitors can explore a wide range of artifacts from the archaeological site of Roccazzo, as well as various scattered artifacts found in the municipal territory.
The museum's collection includes artifacts found at the archaeological site of Roccazzo. Among these are numerous items from the so-called "Shaman's tomb", including a necklace, various lithic industry artifacts, red ochre cylinders, bowls, and various containers. These artifacts provide a glimpse into the past and offer a unique opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the region.
In addition to the artifacts from Roccazzo, the museum also houses examples of Corinthian and Attic pottery. These include aryballoi and a skyphos from the Corinthian tradition, and lamps and lekythoi from the Attic tradition dating back to the 5th century BC. These pieces of pottery not only showcase the artistic skills of the ancient people but also provide insights into their daily lives and practices.
