The Museum of Pop Culture, or MoPOP, is a cultural center located in the Seattle Center in the United States. It was formerly known as the Experience Music Project | Science Fiction Museum (EMP|SFM) until 2016. This change in name reflects the museum's broadened focus on all aspects of pop culture, beyond just music and science fiction.
Music Collection at MoPOP
The Museum of Pop Culture houses an impressive collection of 80,000 objects that cover the history of rock music, with additional exhibits dedicated to blues and hip-hop. This extensive collection provides a comprehensive overview of these influential music genres.
Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame
In 2004, the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame was inaugurated in the South wing of the Museum of Pop Culture building. This addition was made to compensate for the lack of revenue and has since become an integral part of the museum, offering visitors a chance to explore the world of science fiction.
