The Infantry Museum (Musée des Chasseurs à Pied) is located in the barracks of Trésignies. Until 1976, it was the garrison of the 1st and 2nd regiments of the "Chasseurs à pied". The museum shows didactically how the "Chasseurs à pied" contributed to the acquisition and preservation of freedom since the revolution of 1830 to the military operations in ex-Yugoslavia.

Musée des Chasseurs à pied has 1 rating.
The Musée des Chasseurs à pied in Charleroi, Belgium, offers visitors an insightful look into the history of the Belgian light infantry. The museum houses a diverse collection of uniforms, weapons, and personal items that trace the evolution of the Chasseurs à pied from their inception to modern times. Visitors often appreciate the well-organized exhibits and the depth of information provided, especially for those interested in military history. The museum's strength lies in its focus on a specific unit, allowing for a detailed exploration of its role in various conflicts.
However, some visitors note that the museum is relatively small and can be explored thoroughly in about an hour. The displays are primarily in French and Dutch, which can be a drawback for non-speakers of these languages, as English translations are limited. Some reviewers mention that the museum could benefit from more interactive elements or multimedia presentations to enhance the visitor experience.
Despite its compact size, many find the admission price reasonable for the quality of the exhibits. The staff is generally described as helpful and knowledgeable, adding value to the visit for those seeking more information. The museum's location in a historic military barracks adds to its authenticity but might be slightly off the beaten path for casual tourists.
Overall, the Musée des Chasseurs à pied is a solid choice for military history enthusiasts and those interested in Belgian heritage. While it may not appeal to all visitors due to its specialized focus, it provides a thorough and respectful tribute to the Chasseurs à pied and their place in Belgian military history.
