The Curtius Museum (Musée Le Grand Curtius) is a museum of archaeology and decorative arts. The building that houses the museum was a private mansion for Jean Curtius, a Belgian manufacturer who provided gunpowder to the Spanish army. It was built somewhere between 1597 and 1610 in the typical regional style 'Meuse Renaissance'. The museum houses collection on archeology, weaponry, decorative arts and religious art and Mosan art. Highlights include a twelfth-century gilded reliquary tryptich, sculptures by Jean Del Cour and a portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte from Ingres.
