The Malmköping Tramway Museum, located in the municipality of Flen in the Swedish province of Södermanlands län, is a unique destination for those interested in transportation history. Operated by the Svenska Spårvägssällskapet (Swedish Tramway Society), the museum not only showcases a variety of trams but also serves as a national transport museum. Visitors can explore the rich history of Swedish tramways and gain insights into the evolution of public transportation in the country.
The Malmköping Tramway Museum is home to vehicles from several Swedish tramway companies, providing a comprehensive overview of the country's tramway history. Some of these vehicles are still operational and are used on the museum line, offering visitors a unique experience. As of 2018, the museum had over 40 vehicles, about a third of which were restored. Among these is the gray-painted luggage motor car M1 1253, built by ASEA in 1901. This vehicle was in operation in Stockholm until 1965 and is now considered the oldest operational electric tram car in Sweden.
The Vagnorama, opened in 1983, is a significant part of the Malmköping Tramway Museum. This vehicle hall includes four tracks and is used for the storage and presentation of tram cars. Visitors can explore this area to see a variety of tram cars up close and learn more about their design and operation.
