The Museo Archeologico della Val Tidone is an archaeological museum situated in Pianello Val Tidone, a town in the province of Piacenza. The museum is home to a vast collection of historical and archaeological artifacts discovered in the Val Tidone basin. It was established in April 1999 through a collaboration between the Archaeological Heritage Office of Emilia-Romagna, the volunteer group of the Pandora Association, and the municipal administration of Pianello Val Tidone.

Layout of the Museum

The museum is housed in the basement of the municipal fortress of Pianello Val Tidone and is divided into three rooms. Each room is characterized by one or more different colors depending on the era of the artifacts, which are used as the background of the explanatory panels and in the tablets that support the displayed artifacts.

Recognition and Certifications

The museum has been recognized for its quality by the Emilia-Romagna region in 2009. In March 2010, it received the Quality Museum certification from the Emilia-Romagna Region, which was valid for the three-year period from 2010 to 2012. This recognition attests to the museum's commitment to preserving and showcasing the archaeological heritage of the region.

Exhibition Rooms

The museum's exhibition is divided into three rooms, each characterized by one or more different colors depending on the era of the artifacts. The first room, characterized by the color gray, serves as the entrance and reception for visitors and contains a series of fossils that illustrate the geological formation processes that have characterized the valley. The second room, characterized by the color blue, focuses on prehistory and protohistory, covering a time span from the early years of the Neolithic to the Iron Age. The third room houses artifacts from the Roman era (red color) and late antiquity (yellow color), periods characterized by a strong human presence in the valley.
