The Museo archeologico nazionale della Valle Camonica, also known as the Museo nazionale della Valcamonica Romana, is an archaeological museum located in Cividate Camuno, in the province of Brescia. It houses Roman artifacts recovered from various excavations and research conducted since the 17th century in Val Camonica. The museum is divided into four sections, with the majority of the exhibits originating from Cividate, although there are also materials from the Sanctuary of Minerva in Breno.
In June 2021, the museum was relocated and renovated. The new location is much larger and more modern than the previous one, located in the historic center of Cividate Camuno, in a former convent, right in front of the Parish Church, in the heart of the Roman Civitas and the medieval settlement, and in the immediate vicinity of the Roman Amphitheater. This strategic location not only provides a rich historical context but also offers visitors the opportunity to explore the surrounding historical sites.

Museo Archeologico Nazionale della Valle Camonica has 1 rating.
The Museo Archeologico Nazionale della Valle Camonica in Cividate Camuno, Italy, offers visitors an insightful look into the ancient history of the Camonica Valley. The museum houses a significant collection of artifacts from the Roman period, providing a comprehensive overview of the area's rich archaeological heritage.
Visitors often appreciate the well-organized exhibits that showcase various aspects of Roman life in the region, including daily objects, religious artifacts, and architectural remnants. The museum's strength lies in its ability to contextualalize the findings within the broader history of the Camonica Valley.
While the museum is praised for its educational value and the importance of its collection, some visitors note that it is relatively small and can be explored thoroughly in a short time. The presentation of exhibits, while informative, may not be as modern or interactive as some larger, more recently updated museums.
The location of the museum in Cividate Camuno, a small town with Roman origins, adds to the overall experience, allowing visitors to connect the museum's contents with the surrounding historical landscape. However, this also means that it may not be as easily accessible for those not specifically traveling to the area.
Overall, the Museo Archeologico Nazionale della Valle Camonica is a valuable resource for those interested in Roman history and archaeology, particularly as it relates to this specific region of Italy. It provides a solid educational experience, though it may not offer the extensive collections or cutting-edge presentation techniques of larger national museums.
