The Museo degli Orologi da Torre, or the Museum of Tower Clocks, is situated in the town of San Marco dei Cavoti, in the province of Benevento, Campania. This location is a significant part of the museum's identity, as it is deeply rooted in the local culture and history.
The Museum of Tower Clocks was founded to preserve and exhibit the vast collection of master clockmaker Salvatore Ricci. Born in 1930 and passed away in 2013, Ricci dedicated his life to the craft of clockmaking, repairing every type of dial, spring, or gear of clocks located in old bell towers or monumental buildings.
The museum currently houses approximately 55 pieces, dating from the 14th to the 20th century. These pieces were crafted by some of the most renowned clockmakers from various regions of Italy. Each piece is a testament to the craftsmanship and ingenuity of these artisans, providing a unique insight into the history of clockmaking in Italy.
