The Guido Fregonese Beekeeping Museum, located in Oderzo in the province of Treviso, holds the distinction of being the first public beekeeping museum in Italy. It was founded in 1995 and officially opened its doors to the public on June 2, 1996. The museum was established with the aim of bringing visitors closer to the world of bees and the techniques of beekeeping for honey production.
The museum is composed of several distinct areas, each dedicated to a different aspect of beekeeping. There is a conference room with seating for approximately 80 people, a room housing various hives, and another room filled with beekeeping equipment. Additionally, the museum features a warehouse, a beekeeping laboratory, a bee garden, and an educational apiary. Visitors can view around 60 hives and a variety of beekeeping equipment, including smokers, feeders, queen bee cages, and more, totaling about 600 pieces.
One of the unique features of the museum is its production of seven different types of honey each year, which visitors can purchase as a tasty souvenir of their visit. In addition to the locally produced honey, the museum also showcases honeys from various parts of the world, including Turkey, Czech Republic, England, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Macedonia, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Austria, India, Slovenia, Canada, Luxembourg, Germany, Morocco, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Hungary, USA, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, China, Australia, Switzerland, Peru, Kenya, Thailand, Chile, Albania, Malta, Denmark, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Japan.
