The Museo Histórico de Puerto Montt Juan Pablo II is a significant cultural institution in the Los Lagos Region of Chile. Established in 1967, it was originally known as the 'Municipal Museum'. Since 1988, the museum has been situated on the waterfront of Puerto Montt, offering visitors a scenic location to explore the city's history.
The Museo Histórico de Puerto Montt Juan Pablo II boasts a collection of 1800 pieces. These artifacts span the history of the city and the Reloncaví Sound, from prehistoric times to the end of the 20th century. Visitors can gain a comprehensive understanding of the region's past through these exhibits.
The Museo Histórico de Puerto Montt Juan Pablo II is open from Monday to Thursday between 9.00 to 13.00 h and 14.00 to 18.00 h. On Fridays, the museum closes at 17.00 h. Please note that the museum only opens on weekends in January and February. Admission to the museum is free of charge.
