The Museo Histórico La Campana is situated in the town of El Jagüel, within the Esteban Echeverría district. This museum is dedicated to the history of the Monte Grande region, providing visitors with a deep dive into the area's past.
Inaugurated on November 10, 1980, the Museo Histórico La Campana operates on the historic site of the Mc Clymont farm. This farm was home to one of the first Scottish settler families in the area, adding a layer of historical significance to the museum's location.
The Museo Histórico La Campana houses ten rooms filled with historical artifacts from the region. One of the highlights of the museum is a dedicated section for paleontology and natural sciences, where visitors can see a specimen of a Glossotherium, a prehistoric mammal of which there are only four specimens in Argentina.
Among the nearly 2,000 artifacts donated by locals, the museum houses a book that documents the “First and only Scottish colony formed in Argentina”. This book was written in 1925 by Cecilia Grierson, who was the country's first female doctor, making it a significant piece of Argentina's history.
