Museo Manzoniano Lecco

The museum's exhibition, established between 1983 and 1997, offers a unique insight into the life of Alessandro Manzoni. It consists of nine rooms that display the original furniture from the villa, including Manzoni's cradle, when it was sold in 1818. Visitors can also view autographs, prints, collections of Manzoni iconography such as engravings and paintings, and the first editions of his works.

Artifacts and Costumes at the Manzoni Museum

In addition to the historical artifacts, the museum also houses the costumes made for the television adaptation of Manzoni's famous novel, 'The Betrothed', by Salvatore Nocita. Visitors can also see a portrait of the writer attributed to Giuseppe Molteni, along with original furniture and a bronze bust of Lucia Mondella, a character from 'The Betrothed', by the sculptor Francesco Confalonieri.

The museum complex also includes the residential palace, a chapel, and cellars where visitors can see a well-preserved snow storage and two nineteenth-century wine presses. These additional features provide a broader context for understanding the lifestyle and era in which Manzoni lived.
