The Museo Municipal Mario Brososki, located in Puerto Deseado, Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina, is the only Underwater Archaeology and Conservation Museum in the country. Its primary focus is on the conservation and display of pieces and objects that are periodically rescued from the Swift corvette, which sunk in the Deseado estuary in 1770.
Established in 1983 as the “Provincial Regional Museum”, the Museo Municipal Mario Brososki was created with the aim of safeguarding the heritage of Santa Cruz. The museum highlights the remains that had been recovered from the British corvette HMS Swift, which was discovered the previous year.
Today, the Museo Municipal Mario Brososki boasts a collection of more than 600 pieces from the wreck of the HMS Swift. These artifacts were mostly obtained through underwater archaeology work, providing a unique insight into the ship's history and the time of its sinking.
