The Scipione Gentili museum and art gallery is a cultural institution located in the former church of San Sebastiano in San Ginesio. This historical building serves as the backdrop for the museum's collection, adding an extra layer of cultural significance to the experience of visiting the museum.
Current Exhibition Location
Due to the earthquakes in 2016 and 2017, the Scipione Gentili museum and art gallery is currently unusable. However, some of the works from the museum's collection are now displayed in the Sant'Agostino auditorium, in an exhibition called Hoc Opus. This temporary location allows visitors to still enjoy some of the museum's collection while the original building is being restored.
Original Exhibition Layout
Before the earthquakes in 2016 and 2017, the works on display in the Scipione Gentili museum and art gallery were divided into three large sections: ancient section, modern section, and archaeology. This division allowed visitors to explore different periods and styles of art and artifacts, providing a comprehensive overview of various civilizations and artistic movements.
