The Manuel Vicente Guerreiro Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum is located in the village of Santa Clara-a-Nova, in the Alentejo region of Portugal. This cultural facility aims to attract new audiences through innovative strategies and a fresh approach, making it a distinctive landmark in regional museology.
The museum is home to an important collection of over 1300 ethnographic and archaeological pieces. These artifacts explain various aspects of daily life in the region during the recent past, up to around the 1960s, such as traditions and trades, with a strong connection to the rural world.
The museum is dedicated to Manuel Vicente Guerreiro, who played a key role in its foundation. He gathered a large part of the ethnographic collection, which was primarily donated by the residents of the Santa Clara-a-Nova area.
The museum was inaugurated on August 8, 2015. It is the fourth facility of its kind in the municipality, joining the Municipal Museum, the Museum of Southwest Writing, and the Museum of Sacred Art.
