Museu Etnografico de Messejana

The Museu Etnográfico de Messejana, also known as the Museu da Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Messejana, is a museum situated in a historic building in the town of Messejana, in the Municipality of Aljustrel, in the Alentejo region of Portugal. The museum is located in a central area of the town, near several historical monuments such as the Igreja da Misericórdia, the Torre do Relógio, and the Pelourinho.

Exhibits and Displays at the Museum

The museum includes twelve rooms where typical environments of the region's past have been recreated. These include a shop, a classroom, the office of the illustrious Soares Victor from Messejana, and various compartments in the typical houses of the region, such as the kitchens, the pantry, the sewing room, and the bedroom. This gives visitors a glimpse into the past and the way of life in the region during different periods.
