The Museu Histórico e Artístico do Maranhão (MHAM) is a public institution situated in São Luís, within the Solar Gomes de Souza. The collection includes Maranhão furniture from the first half of the 19th century, the largest collection of tiles from São Luís, porcelain, a numismatic collection, glass, crystals, paintings, sculptures, engravings, Catholic sacred art, art of African origin, and a documentary collection. This collection also includes the original work of Aluízio de Azevedo, ” O Mulato ”, and a significant bibliographic collection, offering a comprehensive insight into the region's cultural heritage.
