The Stedelijk Museum Schepenhuis is housed in the Schepenhuis, one of the oldest town halls in Flanders (1270-1380). It forms a hub between the ‘Grote Markt’, the ‘IJzerenleen’, the St. Rumbold's Cathedral and the Cultural Center. The museum is dedicated to the most glorious time of the city, with the Burgundians and Habsburgs, when it was a popular place for travellers from distant lands. Among other, the Schepenhuis displays ecclesiastical art and alabaster reliefs from the renaissance. Unique in the museum are the seven Courtyards from the 16th century.
