The Moos-Schulthaus residence, also known as a castle, is situated in the Berg fraction of the municipality of Eppan in Überetsch, South Tyrol. Today, it serves as a museum showcasing medieval living culture. Visitors can explore the historical architecture and get a glimpse into the lifestyle of the medieval period.
Originally, the Moos-Schulthaus building was a rectangular defensive tower, constructed before 1365 in the Eppan district of Moos. It was later expanded by Heinrich III of Rottenburg into a residence, adopting an L-shaped floor plan. This transformation adds a unique architectural element to the building, making it a point of interest for visitors.
The Moos-Schulthaus museum also features an intact medieval kitchen, complete with utensils, providing a unique insight into the culinary practices of the period. Adjacent to the kitchen is a bedroom furnished with pieces from the 17th century. The room also exhibits various pieces of folk art, adding to the historical richness of the museum.
