The National Archaeological Museum of Sibaritide is situated between the archaeological park of ancient Sybaris and the modern town of Sibari, which is part of the municipality of Cassano all'Ionio, in the province of Cosenza. This location provides a unique opportunity to explore both the ancient and modern aspects of the region.
The museum's collection includes artifacts from the protohistoric era of Magna Graecia to the Roman civilization. These artifacts are related to the cities of Sybaris, Thurii, and Copia, as well as various settlements in the area including Brutium and Enotria. The majority of these artifacts were discovered in the excavations of Parco del Cavallo, Casa Bianca, Castiglione di Paludi, and Timpone della Motta.
One of the excavation areas, located on the SS 106 about 2 km south of the main museum, is open to the public. Here, visitors can see artifacts dating back to the protohistoric era of Magna Graecia up to the Roman civilization. These artifacts are related to the cities of Sybaris, Thurii, and Copia, as well as various settlements in the area including Brutium and Enotria. Most of these artifacts were discovered in the excavations of Parco del Cavallo, Casa Bianca, Castiglione di Paludi, and Timpone della Motta.
